On the 20th of May Dr. Salvatore Arpaia, AMIGA project coordinator, held a seminar at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) premises in Parma, Italy, in the framework of the ongoing collaboration between the AMIGA consortium and EFSA, the authority in charge of evaluating the risk assessment of genetically modified plants and products in Europe. The meeting, dedicated to EFSA staff only, gave Dr. Arpaia the occasion to present the project’s activities and to illustrate the next steps.

On the following day, during the 90th Plenary Meeting of the EFSA GMO Scientific Panel, Dr Arpaia was involved in a thirty minutes hearing where he presented to all the attendants the recent developments achieved in the project. It was the occasion for the Panel Members to ask several questions concerning AMIGA and its developments.

During the meeting, Dr Arpaia and EFSA scientific officers agreed on a visit of EFSA scientific officers to the AMIGA experimental fields in Romania, which will take place during the current field season.
