AMIGA project coordinator, Dr Salvatore Arpaia, will present the new study conducted by Salvatore Arpaia, Ferdinando Baldacchino, Paul W. Goedhart, Martine Kos, Joop J.A. van Loon and Hilko van der Voet, published with the title “La natura dei dati entomologici di campo e implicazioni per le analisi statistiche”, at the XXIV Italian National Congress of Entomology, which will take place on the 9 – 14 June 2014 in Orosei, Italy.

The aim of the study was to define an efficient model to support the evaluation of the environmental impacts of the adoption of different crop germoplasm, to verify the most suitable statistic model to represent the distribution of arthropods on vegetable crops and, finally, to estimate the necessary number of replications needed for designing an experiment with sufficient discriminatory power.

The XXIV Italian National Congress of Entomology, sponsored by the National Italian Entomology Academy and the Italian Entomological Society, has been organised by the Department of Entomology of the University of Sassari. The Scientific Committee has chosen as main topic the “Interactions between insects, environment and means of control”, which is divided into four specific sub-topics.
