The first effects of the modified regulation for cultivation of genetically modified plants in the European Union are visible on the Commission implementing decision (eu) 2016/321 of 3 March 2016 which officially prohibits the cultivation of the sole genetically modified crop currently cultivated in the EU. The list of the territories where the cultivation of mon 810 maize is prohibited is the following:

Wallonia (Belgium), Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany (except for research purposes), Greece, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Northern Ireland (UK), Scotland (UK), Wales (UK).
